Martin Medforth is an accredited Commercial, Civil, Workplace and Employment Mediator and a Commercial Consultant with over 30 years’ experience in technology, procurement, contract management and business transformation.
He trained as a mediator under Jonathan Dingle QC at the Society of Mediators (Normanton Chambers) where he is now a member of faculty contributing regularly as a trainer and assessor as well as working with the Society to foster an understanding of the benefits of Mediation amongst the next generation of legal professionals at his alma mater, King’s College London where he studied Musicology on a postgraduate scholarship.
As a Civil Servant working within the Government Commercial Organisation, he mediates workplace issues for a number of departments as a panel member of the Cross-Government Mediation Service. He also regularly undertakes conciliations for ABTA and has become an experienced telephone mediator.
He has a broad experience of Media, ICT, Service Management, Sport and Industrial Heritage sectors, and became a Life Fellow of the RSA for his work in Media and Broadcast. His core professional values centre around trust, transparency and fairness both in business and personal relationships, and works with a belief that people are more important than problems.
Whilst working within government, he has acted as lead negotiator in a number of significant and long running service and programme management disputes and has become passionate about the use of mediation to provide an opportunity for early resolution of conflict.
He welcomes instructions to mediate across a broad range of areas including: Contractual Disputes, Consumer Disputes, Service Management, Technology Related Disputes, Project Delivery Performance, Procurement - including Public Contract Regulations, Intellectual Property Rights, Workplace (including Bullying and Harassment), Employee and Team Performance, Sports Administration.
Aside from actively supporting his daughter’s participation in equestrian eventing, Martin is a keen runner, competing regularly across track, road, country and fell for both St Albans Striders and Keswick AC.
