Vouchers for Mediation. We see you Ministry of Justice and we'll raise you

I have read a lot recently about the very welcome Ministry of Justice (MoJ) scheme helping parties with family disputes by providing eligible parties with mediation vouchers of up to £500.

As I have said before, it is a shame they are not doing the same for civil and commercial disputes, but rather than sit and complain I thought I would start a similar scheme myself, so here goes.

The Hunt ADR Mediation Voucher Scheme.

Between 14th May 2021 and 31st August 2021 any party who mediates with Hunt ADR is eligible to apply for a Hunt ADR Mediation Voucher which will give them 25% off the total mediator's fee. There is no limit on the number of vouchers available, the only stipulations are that they are valid for online mediations under the Hunt ADR Business Mediation Scheme and must be scheduled to take place before 31st August 2021.

To apply all you need to do is email Gregory Hunt.

Finally, here is a challenge to the MoJ - don't leave it to an individual provider to do this, civil and commercial disputes are responsible for much of the court backlog, so give the whole mediation sector a chance to thrive and extend the voucher scheme for civil and commercial parties. This would promote the case for mediation which in turn leads to businesses being able to make significant savings whilst having their disputes resolved outside of the court.
